HOT PLATE RECORDS RELEASES DJ NU-MARK’S THIRD 10” IN BROKEN SUNLIGHT SERIES ON JULY 24TH, 2012.
Crate-diggers rejoice!! Broken Sunlight Series 3 features a re-edit of the original Ernie Hines classic “Our Generation” and on the flip, “The Fever” featuring A-Skillz.
Ernie Hines’ ”Our Generation” is most commonly known as the sample Pete Rock & Cl Smooth use on “Straighten It Out” (Mecca & The Soul Brother.) Nu-Mark creates a re-edit with open drum breaks and a beefed up mix down.
DJ Nu-Mark says, “I chose ‘Our Generation’ because the vocal content in this 1972 classic still pertains to what’s happening in the world today. The topic of unwarranted wars and violence still plague our society.
‘Our Generation’ falls right in line with the theme of Broken Sunlight because it examines the fractures of our surroundings while forging ahead through trying times. This track is a sneak peek at a multi-track project that I’ll be working on after Broken Sunlight. This will be released as Series 3 of my 10″ color vinyl series in Gold vinyl. Notice the 10″ cover art of Ernie Hines with the master reel next to his elbow!”
As a member of the critically acclaimed, gold-selling Hip-Hop outfit, Jurassic 5, DJ Nu-Mark graced the group with precision production and cutting edge stage routines. The Broken Sunlight series will be released as a full album with instrumentals, accapelas, and a documentary style DVD of all the collaborations in the studio and on the road.

Broken Sunlight Series #2
June 6th, 2012 / One Comment
DJ Nu-Mark launched the second 10” in the Broken Sunlight series on May 22nd with a brand new video for “Tonight.” Check it out here.
DJ Nu-Mark explains the magic behind the new tracks. “On ‘Tonight,’ I remember feeling kinda bad that I told J-Live to re-write the lyrics to the song because he’s just one of those artists that you have great chemistry with. In the end he came back with a true depiction of the heart aches, money struggles and financial woes that most people face in today’s economy. What goes up must come down eventually. With ‘Feel the Way About It,’ I can’t help but think there’s a bit of a disconnect between the Middle School and New School Hip Hop. I really wanted to incorporate upcoming MC’s in the Broken Sunlight Series. Tiron & Ayomari made “Feel the Way About It” dynamic and heartfelt revealing their process of moving from one girl to the next or simply staying in the relationship.”
Broken Sunlight Series 2 is now available.

DJ NU-MARK ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM BROKEN SUNLIGHT SET FOR SUMMER RELEASE.
BROKEN SUNLIGHT WILL BE ROLLED OUT AS A 10” SERIES OVER SEVEN MONTHS WITH FIRST 10” SET FOR RELEASE ON APRIL 24, 2012
The first 10” release in the Broken Sunlight series hits stores on April 24, 2012 and will house “Dumpin Em All” featuring Bumpy Knuckles and “When You Sleep” featuring “Large Professor.” Embed code for the streaming player of the first 10” is below. Check out and post up the video for “Dumpin Em All” here.
Nu-Mark works with two MCs he’s long admired for the first 10” installment. With Bumpy Knuckles on “Dumpin Em All, ” Nu-Mark “was ready to man the board and record his vocals but he punched in his own vocals with a controller inside the vocal booth. This is the most prepared and underestimated MC I’ve worked with to date.” Large Professor is featured on “When You Sleep” and Nu-Mark says “Large Pro is still in my top 10 favorite MC’s and producers of all time. His vocal pocket is funky and timeless. Large Pro seamlessly compares graffiti to crime in this anthem. He’s was literally one of the people I had on my checklist to work with before I died!”
As a member of the critically acclaimed, gold-selling Hip-Hop outfit, Jurassic 5, DJ Nu-Mark graced the group with precision production and cutting edge stage routines. He’s also appeared on countless TV Shows with J5, including David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson.
After more than three years of brainstorming, experimenting and collaborating, he has finished his debut solo album Broken Sunlight, which reveals his influences and innovations into a jaw dropping collection of heartfelt music.
Broken Sunlight also mirrors the marketing behind the album. Instead of releasing all of the songs at once, Nu-Mark plans to post two songs per month for seven months. “At the end of the cycle, I’m going to release the full album with instrumentals, accapelas, and a documentary style DVD of my collaborations in the studio and on the road”.
